Oh Happy Day!

We started our morning off with a wonderful breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The food is very good here. I came thinking I was going to loose a few pounds...ummm, not so sure that's going to happen. We met with Padam (PUMA CC) and just spent some time visiting with him. He was sweet and brought us a case of drinking water. He took us to the local supermarket to buy some snacks/candy for the children at the orphanage. Then it was off to Top Of The World a local business operated by an American who now lives in Kathmandu. He and his wife have a team that makes and sells frozen foods (pizza, potato nuggets, Nepali "Aalu Chop", Mountain Man Trekker's Fuel (Granola, Museli, Trail Mix, Granola Bars, Fruit Bars, Dehydrated Fruit, Rasilo Juice ( Pineapple...AMAZING, best I ever had, Jomson Apple, Nepali "Suntala" (orange), Coffee Accessories & Gift Items (Nepali Coffee and MANY, MANY more) . Check out the website. The place smelled amazing! And the pineapple was fabulous!

Then we were off to see a pet toy manufacturing business run by Padam. They make toys for cats and dogs from 100% lamb wool and they ship them to NJ to sell. It's a group of beautiful Nepali women who work there. Because Nepal is so poor and work is hard to find these ladies husbands are working in Saudi Arabia and so they work here to help with money. Some of them work in a building, it's exposed to the elements but does have a roof and there are others who sit on the grass under the hot sun hand stitching these toys together. I don't have the website right now, but once I get it I will share it with you and you can all buy your pets a Christmas present! Okay, I've been given the website! Click HERE to visit a Cheerful Pet.

Once we were finished there it was off to see the PUMA home. We saw where the boys and girls live and met with some of the other PUMA staff who we fell in love with right away! We plan to stay here at the hotel until Saturday morning and then head over to the PUMA house for church and plan to stay with them until it's time to head home. We are blessed to have met them! Sweet brothers and sisters in the Lord!

Okay after we visited with them we made our way back to the hotel through the C r A z Y traffic to switch rooms and get some things ready for our second visit with Trek. When we got to the orphanage today we were taken upstairs to the baby balcony and there were about 8 or 9 little babies in cribs and sitting on the ground. Trek was in a crib with 4 other little ones. They are all so precious! We brought snacks with us and broke off pieces for the babies and as soon as they saw the food all the little hands were reaching for a bite. It was fun seeing Trek with his little friends and I think it made it a little easier on him when I took him out of the crib. I got to change his diaper :) We were then taken to a room down stairs for our visit. He cried at first but I whispered a prayer in his ear and kissed him and he settled down. I got him to eat cheerios (gotta love those things). They make bonding with children much easier :) I washed his face and put oil on his skin (his cheeks are so chapped). You know it's hard sometimes to put in words how we are feeling, but it was a sweet hour and a half with him. When it was time to leave I put him down and he started to cry and reach for me!! That made my day! I can see that he is getting comfortable with us and it was also good for the facilitator to see. On our way back to the hotel we stopped at the store again and picked up a few more toys for our visit tomorrow. The plan is still to take full custody of him on Friday....I can't wait!!! Keep praying for him as he bonds with us. It will be hard for him to leave his didi's. They have cared for him since he was five days old. Also keep praying for his visa. We still haven't heard anything yet.

Now we are back at the hotel. Mike is snoozing on the bed while I try to update all of you :) Oh one other thing to add. The reason you have not seen Mike with Trek, is because he hasn't held him yet. We are going to try to get him to hold him tomorrow, but Trek does seem nervous with all this and he has been cared for by women. So we are doing what we feel we need to do while we are being observed. Once we get to the hotel things will be more normal. But we will try again tomorrow.

(we still can't post pictures, but come Friday we'll post lots)

So while we're sitting in our room looking at our messages we hear a knock at the door. Before we had a chance to open it, the house keeping lady opened it and asked if we were okay and happy with the room. LOL! Good thing we weren't getting dressed or using the bathroom or something.

Another devotional from today...

We expect Jesus to come in the form of peaceful hymns or Easter Sunday or quiet retreats. We expect to find Him in morning devotionals, church suppers, and meditation. We never expect to see Him in a bear market, pink slip, lawsuit, forecloser, or war. We never expect to see Him in a storm. But it is in storms that He does His finest work, for it is in storms that he has our keenest attention.

We cannot go where God is not. Look over your shoulder; that's God following you. Look into the storm; that's Christ coming toward you.
Matthew 28:20 "I am with you always..."

Luke 8:50 "Don't be afraid. Just have faith..."

Isaiah 59:19 "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him."

Nehemiah 4:14 "Don't be afraid...Remember the Lord, who is great and powerful. Fight for ...your sons and daughters, your wives, and your homes."
